Radhe Actor Gautam Gulati On How He Prepared For His Role: ‘I Used To Sleep Only For 3-4 Hours Daily’-EXCLUSIVE
Gautam Gulati recently got his big break when he appeared as Girgit, one of the three villains in Salman Khan’s Eid release Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. The character is shown to be a psychotic deadly villain, who knows nothing but how to kill. And Gautam had an amazing time playing that character.

Ask him about how he prepared to get into the psyche of a villain like Girgit and he shares, “If you sign up for something like this, you have to change your thinking point of view. I started thinking really deeply about what to add to my character and how to do things to make it look more deadly. I used to add a lot of details to make sure of that and to get that perfection, you have to think in the wrong way,” he asserts.

Gautam goes on to elaborate the change in his routine he undertook to make sure that he stayed in character. “I used to sleep only for three-four hours daily. We would start shooting from 5-6 am every day, but I would not take any break in between and it made me cranky. That cranky feeling used to give me more ideas on how to make my character more dangerous. I am just happy that everything I improvised and did, turned out great on screen. It felt good playing an intense character. It was hard but amazing to go down the deep end and understand the character’s psyche,” he states.

But did going down this dark path had any effect on his mental health? “Not much actually. I did feel a little difference but I didn’t go as deep as there were three villains in the film, so the whole onus wasn’t on me. Randeep Hooda sir is a deadly actor in himself, so when we worked together, it kind of helped me to compartmentalise. It didn’t affect me mentally much but I definitely used to keep myself cranky all the time to play this character. I also used to smile all the time as I felt it made my character look more dangerous. That smile denoted that Girgit knew nothing else but how to kill. That mood I always had to keep,” Gautam signs off.
